The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor for Tamale Technical Universit (TaTu), Professor Bashiru Imoro Ibn Saeed, has paid a courtesy call on the King and Over of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) at his Palace.
The purpose of the visit was to officially introduce himself to the Yagbonwura following his appointment and induction as Vice-Chancellor of the premier technical university in Northern Ghana.
Professor Ibn Saeed who was accompanied to the Palace by the Registrar of the University, Alhaji Yakubu Iddrisu and other staff sought Yagbonwura’s support to ensure a successful tenure.
He also expressed gratitude for the support of the Gonja Kingdom to the institution during its transition from a polytechnic to a technical University.
Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale (I) in his welcome address acknowledged the long-standing relationship between the kingdom and the institution.
He assured them of the palace’s continued support and blessed the new Vice-Chancellor, praying for the success of the university. The Overlord also requested consideration for admissions for citizens of Gonjaland.
Director of Public Affairs at the university, Mr. Osman Abu promised to offer support and collaboration, highlighting the university’s various programs, including 17 Master’s programs, 37 Degree programs, HND, Diploma, and Certificate courses.
“As and when the need be for his royal highness to take advantage of our university in terms of offering admissions to the citizen of Gonjaland, we are 100% ready to do that because we want to collaborate with him as a major stakeholder in this country”. He assured.
Professor Bashiru Imoro Ibn Saeed, formerly the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, was appointed Vice-Chancellor for a four-year term, succeeding Professor Abass Braimah.
The visit did not only offered them the opportunity to have discussions on the university but also reinforced the strong partnership between the Gonja Kingdom and Tamale Technical University.
