Some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) numbering over 50 in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency have defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The defectees made their decision public at a campaign rally organized by the NPP to canvass for votes for Dr. Bawumia and the party’s parliamentary candidate for the area.
Mr. Tiebaare John, leader of the defectees in an exclusive interview with spearfmcom, explained that the governing party within this short period, has been able to undertake impactful policies for the ordinary Ghanaian reason for which, they decided to pitch camp with the NPP.

He mentioned the free senior high school policy as one of the numerous policies rolled out by the current government which he said is benefitting millions of second cycle students across the country.
Mr. John disclosed that they have served and voted for the NDC for decades but can’t point at any single social intervention policy to align with and therefore, decided to join the NPP.
“We have voted for the NDC for some number of years but we didn’t see any development at our place especially employment among we the youth in the area. The free senior high school policy is a major reason why we have decided to switch camp. Members of my in family have benefitted a lot from it and its impact is immeasurable”.

He also served notice of intensifying campaigns in the constituency to get other supporters of the NDC to switch camp to the NPP for the massive performance of the government.

The Savannah Regional Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana Kalamonia who received them to the NPP fraternity, expressed appreciation to them for resolving to join the NPP.
He charged them to work hard to ensure the victory of the party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
