The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for West Gonja Municipality Hon. Yakubu Yussif Castro has announced plans to transform the Damongo Everyday Market into a modern 24-hour commercial facility.
Speaking during an interview on Spear FM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the MCE outlined ambitious development plans for the market, including the construction of an ultra-modern three-storey building to replace existing structures currently occupied by businesses such as Maame Azara and Panaana tailoring shop.
The MCE emphasized that planning for the project is complete and implementation will commence soon, marking a significant infrastructure upgrade for the regional capital.

To address traffic congestion challenges, the MCE also revealed that the municipality has acquired ten acres of land for a new car park. He noted that the current market and GPRTU Station facilities are inadequate for a regional capital, necessitating the expansion to ease congestion in the area.
