Ridwan Afeso Abubakari Unveils Six-Point Plan to Revitalize Party’s Communication Strategy Ahead of 2028 Elections
Ridwan Afeso Abubakari, current Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savannah Region, has officially announced his candidacy for the position of Regional Communications Director, presenting an ambitious vision centered on the theme: “Connect, Communicate & Compel for Victory 2028.”
The announcement comes in response to the NPP’s significant electoral setbacks in the Savannah Region during the 2024 elections, which Abubakari identifies as a critical moment requiring transformative leadership in political communication.
With over a decade of experience in political communication across multiple platforms including radio, television, social media, and print Abubakari brings extensive credentials to his campaign. His background includes work as a serial caller, social media strategist, and management team member, as well as academic training in Public Administration and Information Studies.
Six-Point Strategic Plan
Abubakari’s leadership platform centers on a comprehensive six-point plan designed to revolutionize the party’s communication approach: Strengthen connections between party leadership and communications teams,
Secure essential resources and training for communicators, Empower local voices and develop community-focused narratives,
Deploy innovative technology and new media strategies, Promote accountability and transparency in communications, and Integrate female communicators as key stakeholders in regional operations
Proven Track Record
The candidate highlighted his pioneering work in Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency prior to 2016, where he helped reshape the NPP’s local image through strategic government communication. His approach has reportedly become a blueprint for communications aides across the Savannah Region and beyond.
Abubakari currently serves as Deputy Communications Director for the party in the region and Communications Director for the Savannah Regional Youth Wing. He is also founder of the DREAM PATRIOTS, a youth group focused on party communication.
In his announcement, Abubakari acknowledged mentorship from five previous communications directors: Mohammed Abdul-Kudus, the late Issahaku Abdul-Latif, Mohammed Issah, Sule Salifu, and Frederick Abukari Tahiru claiming to be the only candidate with such extensive institutional experience.
“This is more than a role; it is a commitment to revolutionize our narrative,” Abubakari stated. “I am ready to build a vibrant, passionately motivated and inclusive team that will co-create a powerful new story for the NPP, leading us to victory in 2028.”
The candidate’s professional background as a classroom learning facilitator complements his communication expertise, which he says will enable him to develop targeted strategies addressing the unique needs of Savannah Region constituencies.
