CIID Vocational Institute, a vocational school established by Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana also known as Prof Kalamonia who is the Savannah Regional NPP Chairman with support from Ghana Gas, World Bank, GIZ and other partners has been inaugurated successfully on Monday 18th November, 2024 in Daboya.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by high profiled persons including the Savannah Regional Minister Hon Saeed Muhazu Jibril, the PRO Vice Chancellor of Tamale UDS Professor Elliot Haruna Alhassan, MP for Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency Hon. Alhaji Asei Shieni, the DCE for North Gonja District Hon. Adam Eliasu Red Bawa, reps from Ghana Gas, reps from TVET, reps of Wasipewura Anyame Kabagya II, with Madam Mariam who is the Headmistress of Dagbokpa Technical School as Chairperson.

On arrival, the Savannah Regional Minister and the delegation first paid a courtesy call on the Wasipewura where the Wasipewura on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Wasipewura Traditional Council expressed gratitude to Prof Kalamonia for establishing the Vocational school in no other place but Daboya.
The Wasipewura also presented a citation of Honour to the CEO of Ghana Gas Ing. Dr Benjamin Asante for the kind support in ensuring that the school is operational.
The citation wad received on his behalf by Mr Edomgbole Nwiah Ayimah, project manager at Ghana Gas.
The CIID Vocational Institute aims to train young men and women in programmes, including Garment Making, Cosmetology, Consumer Electronics and plumbing Technology.

In a welcome address delivered by the Board Chairman of CIID Vocational Institute Professor Adams Sulemana Achanso, he said the CIID Vocational Institute will transform the lives of young men and women in the North Gonja District and Savannah region as a whole.
According to Prof Achanso, one of the reasons why Ghana is grappling with youth unemployment is because our education system do not adequately equip our school leavers at all levels of the educational systems with the necessary skills with which they can cater for themselves and their dependants.
Prof Achanso applauded the Nana Addo and Bawumia government for channelling their focus and energy on technical and vocational education and training institutions with the requisite resources.
He said CIID Vocational training institute was established in April, 2024 and currently undergoing the process of government absorption.
Prof Achanso revealed that the institution has been accredited by the commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) to ensure compliance with national standards.

He added that the school is currently operating with a student population of 260 young men and women and a staff strength of 25 permanent staff, comprising both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Prof Achanso also added that all learners absorbed by CIID Vocational training institute in Daboya are also paid some substantial amount of money every month for their personal upkeep while under training at the school.
The Savannah Regional Minister Hon Saeed Muhazu Jibril in a keynote address thanked Prof Kalamonia for the upliftment of his own people by establishing the Vocational Institute in Daboya and that It takes a visionary leader to imbibe in his people how to fish and not how to eat fish.
Hon Muhazu said the school has already employed 25 people and about 260 pupils have been enrolled and out of that about 5 to 7 students from the CIID Vocational Institute in Daboya have gone for medicals to join the Ghana police service which means that the certificate acquired at CIID Vocational Institute is recognized nation wide.

The Savannah Regional Minister said since the introduction of TVET in Ghana, it is the Nana Addo Government that has invested so much in TVET and Savannah Region is a beneficiary.
“We have only 3 Vocational schools in Savannah, one in Bole, one has just been started in Damongo, one in Sawla, and one is being constructed in Salaga” the minister said.
“It is refreshing to note that recently the Savannah college of education in Daboya, the memorandum of understanding is being signed by the Wasipewura and government” the minister added.
Hon. Muhazu recounting on some of the developmental projects executed by the Nana-Addo/Bawumia government in the Savannah Region on education said there is a new secondary schools that has been built in Larabanga by the NPP government.

The Savannah Regional Minister also added that by next year the Daboya bridge which is currently under construction will be completed.
Hon. Saeed Muhazu Jibril siezed the opportunity to appeal to the people of Daboya/Mankarigu to vote massively for Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia come December 7th 2024 elections for more developments.
The Chairperson for the ceremony Madam Mariamah Mahama in her remarks said we are all beneficiaries of TVET who made the Canopy, chairs, microphone, our clothing and many more

According to her, there may not be white color jobs but there are several opportunities in TVET.
She added that our biggest enemy in Northern Ghana is poverty which can be eliminated by TVET.
Madam Mariamah urged all organizations, including the Minister and the DCE to establish more institutions like that of CIID Vocational Institute.
According to her, it is only through informal education that one can make quick money.
She lamented over the limited number of TVET institutions in the 5 northern regions.
