Buipewura Jinapor II to Announce  Groundbreaking Partnership Between Harlem and Northern Ghana

The Harlem Tourism Board is set to host its inaugural “A City Within a City” Cultural Tourism Summit on August 14, 2025, at The Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel. The event will bring together key leaders and stakeholders to celebrate Harlem’s rich history and vibrant culture. At the summit, Buipewura Jinapor II, the Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area and Vice President of the National House of Chiefs of Ghana, will make a major announcement.

Buipewura Jinapor II will formally announce a joint venture between Harlem and Northern Ghana, dubbed the “Harlem-Northern Ghana Partnership.” This visionary collaboration aims to foster cultural exchange, promote tourism, and create economic opportunities between the two regions. The partnership is a result of efforts by the Harlem Tourism Board, Taste of Afrika Ltd., and key stakeholders in Ghana and Africa, including the African Tourism Board and the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The partnership is expected to benefit communities on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Tony Rogers, President of the Harlem Tourism Board and Co-Founder of HARLEM WEEK, described the partnership as “a bold step toward fostering cultural exchange, promoting tourism, and creating economic opportunities.” This development aligns with the goals of the Harlem Tourism Board, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cultural tourism and supporting local businesses in Harlem.

Buipewura Jinapor II expressed his enthusiasm for the new collaboration, stating, “In honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance, and in keeping with that enduring spirit, I am pleased to formally announce the Harlem-Northern Ghana Partnership.” As the Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Buipewura Jinapor II brings significant leadership experience to this partnership.

The summit will feature insight and greetings from prominent leaders, including Tony Rogers, Curtis Archer, and Regi Taylor. Attendees will have opportunities to network and join the growing wave of economic development by listing their businesses in the Connect Harlem App.
