Cocoa Research Institute Junior High School has been crowned champions of the 5th edition of the Bolewura Kutuge Feso Science and Maths Quiz, dethroning defending champions ST. Kizitos B JHS in a thrilling finale held on Friday, December 5, 2025.
The grand final took place at the Wuripe and Sons Royal Lodge (Bole Dubai) inside the Hajia Achulo Sports and Entertainment Centre, marking a historic milestone as the competition extended for the first time beyond the Bole Municipality into the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.
After weeks of intense intellectual competition across Sawla, Tuna, Mandari and Bole beginning October 6, three schools battled for supremacy before a packed audience of chiefs, dignitaries, educators and students.

Quiz Master Mr. Saaka Abdul Majeed Ramadan, Vice President of the Nurses and Midwifery Association of the Savannah Region, guided contestants through three challenging rounds covering Integrated Science and Mathematics.
The contestants were:
ST. Kizitos B JHS was represented by Gariba Zuleiha and Yakubu Hidaya, Sawla Girls Model JHS represented by Fusseini Rahima and Vifa Edem Wendy whilst Cocoa Research Institute JHS was represented by Marchin Liborchelyn Grace & Kumah Joy (the only male contestant in the finals)
Round 1: Integrated Science
Cocoa Research Institute JHS took an early lead:
Sawla Girls Model — 15 points
ST. Kizitos B — 17 points
Cocoa Research — 23 points
Round 2: Mathematics
After strategic substitutions:
ST. Kizitos B — 9 points
Sawla Girls Model — 19 points
Cocoa Research — 18 points
Final Round
The nail-biting finish saw Cocoa Research Institute JHS maintain their momentum:
Sawla Girls Model — 48 points
Cocoa Research Institute — 52 points
ST. Kizitos B — 33 points
Cocoa Research Institute’s team of Marchin Liborchelyn Grace and Kumah Joy demonstrated remarkable consistency, taking an early lead in Round 1 with 23 points. Despite strong competition from Sawla Girls Model JHS in Round 2, they maintained their composure to finish with 52 points, ahead of Sawla Girls Model’s 48 points and ST. Kizitos B’s 33 points.
The champions received GH¢5,000 and a brand new laptop, while second-place Sawla Girls Model JHS took home GH¢3,000, and third-place ST. Kizitos B JHS received GH¢2,000. All participating schools were awarded books, mathematical sets, T-shirts and medals.

Kumah Joy of Cocoa Research Institute JHS was named overall best performing student of the entire competition, notably being the only male contestant in the finals.

The competition, instituted by the Paramount Chief of Bole, Yiram Bolewura Sarfu Kutuge Feso I, continues to fulfill its mission of promoting academic excellence. Speaking through his Secretary, Mr. Haruna Abdulai Obei, the Bolewura emphasized that “these competitions are not just to test the brilliance or knowledge of our students but also to give them a platform to think critically and ignite their curiosity.”
The event was graced by Hon. Yussif Sulemana, Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, who praised the initiative and encouraged students to continue striving for greatness.

Cultural performances by the Boresa Cultural Club added color to the occasion, while citations were presented to dedicated Ghana Education Service officers from both Bole and Sawla districts.
The Kutuge Feso Science and Maths Quiz has established itself as a premier platform for nurturing young talent in the Savannah Region, inspiring the next generation of thinkers and innovators.
