Chiefs that Engage in Politics will be Treated Like Politicians – Savannah Regional NPP Chairman

0

Savannah Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana also known as Prof Kalamonia has advised some chiefs in the Gonjaland who engage in politics to stay away from politics.

Prof Kalamonia in an exclusive interview on Damongo based Spear FM accused some chiefs from Gonjaland of publicly campaigning for their political opponents.

Prof Kalamonia said the NPP in Savannah Region respects and holds the chiefs of Gonjaland in high esteem but will not hesitate to handle any chief who publicly engage in party politics as a politician.

Prof Kalamonia said a Chief is supposed to remain neutral when it comes to politics but some of the chiefs have clothed themselves with political party colors.

Comparing the number of constituencies in the various regions of the presidential candidates and their running mates of both NDC and NPP, Prof Kalamonia said if it is anything to go by, then NPP would have had more Chiefs coming out to campaign for them than the NDC because obviously chiefs from the regions of the NPP presidential candidate and his running mate are more than that of NDC in terms of numbers.

In his analysis, Prof Kalamonia said the NPP presidential candidate Dr Bawumia’s region which is the North East Region has 6 constituencies, the NPP running mate Mr Mathew Opoku Prempeh’s region (Ashanti Region) has 47 constituencies whilst the president H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s region (Eastern Region) has 33 constituencies making a total of 86 constituencies for NPP.

On NDC, Prof Kalamonia said the presidential candidate of the NDC H.E John Dramani Mahama who hails from Savannah Region has 7 constituencies in the Savannah Region, whilst his running mate Madam Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman who hails from the Central Region has 23 constituencies making a total of 30 constituencies for the NDC as compared to the NPP.

The Savannah Regional NPP Chairman Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana also known as Prof Kalamonia commended the Yagbonwura some other chiefs for always remaining neutral when it comes to politics.
