Local Accountability Network (LANeT) Damongo, in partnership with NORTHCODE GHANA and with funding from Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition through GIZ has organized an anti-corruption sensitization program for students of St. Annes Primary School Block B and Canteen Junior High School Block B.
Officers from the Savannah Regional Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) office were invited to educate the basic school children on the meaning of corruption, its implications, and the proper channels for reporting corrupt practices to the appropriate authorities.

During the interactive session, pupils were also introduced to the Whistle Blowers Act, which protects individuals who report corruption and other wrongdoing.
The program allowed students to actively participate by asking questions and providing answers. Some students who answered questions correctly were rewarded with anti-corruption branded T-shirts and pens.
Speaking to Spear FM after the sensitization, students demonstrated their understanding by defining corruption, explaining who a whistle blower is, and discussing the negative impacts of corruption on society.

Madam Matilda Gender-Based desk officer of NORTHCODE GHANA, explained that the initiative aims to equip basic school children at an early age with the knowledge and values needed to fight corruption as they grow.
“Basically the sensitization is to inculcate moral values in our basic school children as they are still young so that when they grow, they will not engage in corrupt practices and also they will not cover up corruption,” Madam Matilda Mahama told Spear FM.
