The second Vice Chairman for the Ejisu Constituency of the NPP Kwabena Boateng emerged victorious as the Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Ejisu ahead of the upcoming by-election and the December general elections.
Kwabena Boateng garnered 394 votes in Saturday’s primary, overcoming his closest competitor, Helena Mensah, who also had 302 votes. Yaa Akyemaa Aboagye trailed with 229 votes.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, Former GFA President who had a minimal 35 votes, meanwhile he was hospitalized earlier before the elections.
The rest, Dr Evans Duah polled 63 votes, Portia Acheampong Abronye got 6 votes, Klinsman Karikari Mensah and Aaron Prince Duah garnered 2 votes respectively with Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey scoring zero.
A total of 1081 delegates decided the fate of nine (9) aspirants to represent the New Patriotic Party in the forthcoming by-election in the Ejisu Constituency.
However, the election was marred with allegations of vote buying, double voting and attempts by some delegates taking screenshots of ballots cast.
The Ejisu by-election is expected to be conducted on the 30th of April 2024, following the demise of the Member of Parliament for Ejisu and deputy finance minister,John Ampontuah Kumah on March 7,2024 at age 45.
