Opinion: Cry From the Savannah: Damongo, Daboya, and Buipe Unite in Urgent Call to the IGP

To: The Inspector-General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno

Subject: IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION REQUIRED: The Drug Menace in the Savannah Region
Today, the people of the Savannah Region rise with one voice, one heart, and one deep pain. From the traditional seat of Damongo, across to the banks of the White Volta in Daboya, and down to the commercial hub of Buipe, our communities are united in a singular plea.
We call upon the Inspector-General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to come to our aid with his most trusted and hardworking Special Operations Team.

The Shadow Over Our Communities

A dangerous wave is tightening its grip on our beloved towns. The menace of hard drugs—specifically Tramadol, “Wonin Red,” and other illicit substances is infiltrating our streets and stealing the future of our youth.
What affects Damongo resonates in Daboya and echoes in Buipe. These three strategic towns are the heartbeat of the Savannah Region, but they are currently under siege by drug networks that feel they are untouchable.

The Call for ASP Bawah J
IGP, we need your team in the Savannah Region—NOW.
We have watched with admiration as your Special Operations Team, under the fearless and tactical leadership of ASP Bawah J, restored peace where fear once ruled in Tamale and other parts of the North.
We need that same energy here.
We need the unmatched intelligence and strength of ASP Bawah J and his men to descend upon Damongo, Daboya, and Buipe.
We need the same rescue mission that crushes drug dens and restores sanity to our neighbourhoods.

The Savannah Region is not asking for sympathy—we are asking for saving.
Our youth in Daboya still have dreams beyond addiction.

Our families in Buipe still have hope for a safe community.

Our land in Damongo still has a future worth fighting for.

But without urgent intervention, that hope may fade.

We believe—with full faith—that if your Special Operations Team descends on these three communities, the drug trade will collapse, and crime will be pushed back to 0%, just as you are achieving elsewhere.
This is our cry. This is our plea.
Damongo, Daboya, and Buipe are ready for the operation.
IGP Yohuno, please send us ASP Bawah J.

To our leadership in Savanna Region we need your assistance ; Our Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe, we are calling for action.
The President of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Mr. Al-Hassan Baba Darison, we seek for your firm with the youth in demanding for cleanup.
Our Revered Traditional Leaders and Chiefs across the three traditional lands we request that you unite and share your guidance to assist us in this fight.
